Whitman Sixpence Collection – British History in a Folder

This authentic Whitman Sixpence Collection spans 30 years of British coinage, from 1937 through to 1967, capturing the reigns of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. Each coin tells part of the story of Britain’s economic and cultural evolution, from the final silver sixpences to the later cupro-nickel issues just before decimalisation.

The collection includes key transitional coins and ends with the final pre-decimal examples of the sixpence. All coins are neatly displayed in a classic Whitman blue coin folder, with labelled spaces for every year.

      Condition – Good Collectable Example

This Whitman Sixpence Collection remains in good collectable condition. The coins show typical circulation wear, natural toning, and light marks, as expected for sets of this age. The Whitman folder itself is complete, with secure pages and clear labelling.

Close up images are provided to help you judge the coins condition for yourself. Please note that colours may appear slightly different due to lighting conditions and screen settings.

Historical and Collectable Significance of the Whitman Sixpence Collection

Collectors appreciate the Whitman Sixpence Collection because it captures a pivotal era in British coinage. During this period, silver was gradually phased out after 1946, replaced by more practical base metals.

The inclusion of the Key Date 1952 sixpence gives this collection extra appeal. Minted in small numbers during the transition between monarchs, the 1952 issue is one of the most sought-after coins in the sixpence series.

This folder combines accessibility with historical depth, making it perfect for both beginner and experienced collectors. It also makes a thoughtful gift for anyone interested in vintage British coins or monetary history.
