Red Studio Glass Vase – Mid 20th Century Cased Art Glass

This Red Studio Glass Vase captures the drama and depth of mid-century design. The thick cased glass shows a marbled swirl of black and cherry tones around a bright red interior, giving it an intense, fiery appearance. As light passes through, the colours shift and glow, revealing layers of craftsmanship only possible through hand-blown glass.

Standing approximately 23 cm tall and measuring 13 cm across at its widest point, it has a bold, sculptural presence. The wavy, smooth base adds a handmade feel, and the 1.8 kg weight gives it real substance. Every angle reveals a new pattern, making it as much a piece of art as a practical vessel.

Although unsigned, this Beautiful MCM Vase clearly comes from a skilled maker. The form, polish, and cased layers reflect the studio glass movement that spread across Europe and the UK in the mid-20th century.

    Condition – Excellent Vintage Example

The Red Studio Glass Vase is in excellent vintage condition. It remains free from cracks, chips, or structural flaws, and the surface feels smooth and glossy. The glass retains a high polish that enhances the layered marbled design.

Please check all photographs carefully before purchasing, since they show the exact vase you’ll receive. Slight colour variations may appear due to lighting, but the photos are taken in natural light to reflect its true tones.

    Collectability and Design Significance

Collectors admire the Red Studio Glass Vase for its dramatic use of colour and form. During the mid-20th century, many European and British glass studios began experimenting with bold colours and organic patterns. These hand-blown pieces emphasised individuality and artistic freedom rather than mass production.

The cased red interior contrasts beautifully with the outer black and cherry swirl, showing the influence of Murano design yet keeping a distinctly modern edge. Because it combines craftsmanship with visual power, this vase fits equally well in a vintage collection or a contemporary interior.

If you’d like to explore more about the studio glass movement, you can visit the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Glass Collection.

    1. View all the photos carefully, as they show the exact Red Studio Glass Vase for sale.

    2. Note that colours may appear slightly different under artificial light.

    3. Remember that handmade glass can show minor tool marks or natural bubbles, which confirm its authenticity.

We describe all items accurately and photograph them in natural light, so you can buy with confidence.

Summary of the Red Studio Glass Vase

A stunning Red Studio Glass Vase with black and cherry marbling over a bright red interior. Hand-blown, mid-century, and perfectly balanced, it stands 23 cm tall and weighs 1.8 kg. Smooth, glossy, and free from damage, it brings warmth and sophistication to any room.
